Copyat Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 22, 2026
Copyat is a Chrome extension that lets you click an element on a web page and save a screenshot of it together with its HTML, CSS, Tailwind CSS and JSX code.
What data Copyat handles
When you capture an element, Copyat stores the following only on your device, in the extension's local browser storage (IndexedDB):
- a screenshot of the selected element;
- the generated HTML, CSS, Tailwind and JSX code;
- the URL and title of the page where you captured it, and the capture date.
What Copyat does not do
- It does not send any data to a server. Copyat has no backend.
- It does not use analytics, tracking, cookies or advertising.
- It does not read pages in the background. It only runs on a tab when you start the element picker.
- It does not sell or share data with anyone.
Permissions
- activeTab and scripting: to start the element picker on the current tab when you ask for it.
- sidePanel: to show your capture history.
- Access to websites (optional): requested the first time you press "Pick element", so the picker and the screenshot work on the page you are viewing.
Deleting your data
You can delete any capture, or all of them with "Clear all", from the side panel. Uninstalling the extension removes all stored data.
